An Old Chair: A Haunting Simplicity

As part of our “urbex” experience last week, I came across this ratty old chair lying on its side in the grass, forgotten. I righted the chair and took the picture adding some soft focus effects to the fore and background to give a ghostly effect.

I’m not sure of my feelings as I stared at this. Such a simple thing. And yet how many lives have found comfort from simple things? Did a father read his child stories in this chair? Did someone spill popcorn and hot wing sauce on it as they cheered in the big game? Did someone kneel at its feet to say a prayer? Only Heaven knows…
