Conjuration: A bit of Photographic Illusionism

Levitation photography can be an interesting challenge. So when I saw my fiance’s special candy jar, I knew I had to use it for an exercise in illusion. And since I’m a photographer by trade and not a professional magician, I’ve decided to reveal my tricks…

After setting the candy jar on a support, I provided some back lighting with a softbox. I placed my hand above the jar and took the shot with the camera on a tripod and using the self timer. Afterwards in Photoshop I removed the support, inverted the image, and added a few digital effects.
