Dark Headlight - A Study in Color Saturation

Light. It is a beacon, a wayfinder, a comfort to children when the shadows move in their bedrooms. And it’s what we as photographers are fascinated by. Hard or soft, diffused or concentrated, pure or gelled. It gives hue, texture, and drama to an otherwise passe scene.

In the case of this rusted grille, the light needed a small enhancement. Some localized color saturation adjustments led to a rainbow effect I barely knew was there initially. A nice island of color in the middle of a dull and muted landscape.

Exposure Data: ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/160
